ACADEMIC UX PROJECT
Foodie You App
Challenge
This six-month project, Foodie You, challenged me to improve the user experience for nutrition services and prepared meal acquisition, tailoring solutions to each client’s specific needs. As the UX designer, I independently managed the research, ideation, and prototyping process, leveraging tools like Miro, Figma, Zoom, and Google Docs to create solutions that addressed real user pain points.
Approach
The design process included secondary research, interviews and surveys, the development of user personas and empathy maps, and the creation of user journeys. Benchmarking was conducted to identify best practices, followed by structuring the information architecture. Finally, wireframes and prototypes were designed to bring the concepts to life and validate the user experience.
Insights
Users with chronic non-communicable diseases (hypertension, diabetes) who haven’t used nutrition services often feel it’s unnecessary due to readily available online information.
Users with overweight who have used the service consider nutrition plans difficult to follow and prefer to prioritize foods based on product labeling.
Users who exercise regularly but continue using nutrition consultations find recommended foods expensive and seek more affordable alternatives with similar nutritional value.
Findings
Users consult nutritionists for weight loss, management of chronic conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, cholesterol), or to complement regular physical activity.
Recommendations from acquaintances are the main factor in choosing a professional.
Most users feel that the nutrition plan provided does not meet their personal needs and is difficult to follow due to product costs.
User personas
User Stories
Based on the problem definition, users who are overweight, have chronic conditions, or exercise regularly need expert nutrition services to develop healthy eating habits that align with their personal goals and budget. From this, I created User Stories to define the functions required for the MVP, ensuring that all tasks aligned with user needs.
Wireframes
Using the design layers, product, and chosen channels, structured content into wireframes to visualize the platform.
Hi-Fi Prototype
The final product was designed with these UX principles:
Connection
Users should feel easily connected with their nutritionist. Our chat feature provides closeness to the specialist at all times to answer questions and guide users through their nutrition journey.Functionality
The platform ensures smooth, intuitive interactions so users can access services efficiently.Trust
Users must feel the service is reliable, supporting them to achieve goals with guidance from a professional nutritionist.
